What is brush lettering?

Lettering is the art of creating beautiful & bespoke type. It is another form of creative expression and an alternative to disconnecting, giving yourself a little mental escape.

What to expect?

In this workshop you will:

• Learn basic lettering principles,

• Learn the basic tools needed, costs & where to find them,

• Know where to find & connect with other lettering communities,

• Receive a personalised take home lettering kit, 

• Letter your own personal manifesto to demonstrate your learnt skills and the personal applications of lettering,

• Save countless hours of troubleshooting why the pen won’t do the thing, to

• Gain the confidence to continue at home by yourself.

Our focus over the four hours is to nail the foundations of brush control & remain motivated to continue when you leave.

We’ll start the workshop with correct hand & body positioning. Then move to basic strokes then letters, to create letter words that are values, adjectives & quotes. 

This will warm you up both creatively & mentally to answer some questions that you will letter for your personal manifesto. 

To finish, I’ve found what’s best from past experience is allowing you to choose what you want to focus on. You may want to continue working on your answers, your lettering piece or just want to continue experimenting & troubleshooting your brush skills.

Anyone! 

There’s nothing to fear & if you want to learn it - then this is for you. 

No prior experience is expected. All ages welcome, however any little ones will require a ticketed parent or guardian to supervise.

Perfect for designers, typographers & professional creatives who want an extra edge in their creative armory. You can move on to learn how to digitise and vector your work for logos & identity systems, font making, type work, custom pieces & commissions.

Great for artists, crafters & hobbyists to personalise home & passion projects, decorate gifts & create gorgeous cards and make custom pieces for your home, stationery, planners and projects.

What is a Personal Manifesto?

A personal manifesto is a personal declaration of your values, goals & drives that's written by you, for you. So you'll have the option to letter your answers into a final piece.

What do I need to bring?

If there’s anything personal you would like to letter? Like a note, quote, letter you would like to work on.

Just an electronic copy of your ticket that you’ll receive after purchasing.

All tools and resources will be supplied, and everyone will receive a personalised take home lettering kit including.

Availability is capped to 5 people to ensure quality time for everyone.
